REBALANCE YOUR BODY CHEMISTRY
This is not another weight-loss diet book. The author suggests that you not weigh yourself in an attempt to achieve a certain weight goal. The Diet Cure presents an 8-step program to rebalance your body chemistry and end food cravings, weight problems, and mood swings. Results can be seen within a few days. The book includes an individualized quick-symptom questionnaire which reveals problems in body chemistry that have been inadvertently brought about through eating habits. The good news is that these eight steps can correct all imbalances at their source.
This book is also very important for those who consider themselves to be in perfect health at their ideal weight. Those who are outside their ideal weight range are likely to lose or gain weight, as they move toward their ideal weight. This occurs because cravings for the wrong food types are greatly reduced. This can occur even though the person is not on a low-calorie diet. In fact, the author is very much against low-calorie dieting.
Step One - Correct BRAIN CHEMISTRY IMBALANCES which cause:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Emotional eating disorders
Step Two - End LOW-CALORIE DIETING which causes:
- Problems with rebound overeating
- Bulimia
- Anorexia
- Undesirable mood changes and swings
- Reduced energy
- Increase in body fat resulting from typical yo-yo dieting failures
- Depletion of important body nutrients
- Reduction of lean muscle mass

- Cravings for sweets and starches
- Exhaustion of the adrenal system
- Carbohydrate addiction
- Hypoglycemia
- Diabetes
Step Four - Repair LOW THYROID FUNCTION which causes:
- Loss of energy
- Weight gain
- Coldness, low temperature and low metabolism
Step Five - Overcoming ADDICTIONS TO ALLERGIC FOODS which cause::
- Food cravings
- Congestion
- Headache
- Constipation
- Diarrhea
- Digestion problems
- Bloating
Step Six - Calming HORMONAL HAVOC which causes:
- Food cravings
- Weight gain
- PMS and menopause problems in women
- Low sex drive
- Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome - See link near bottom of page.

The personal testimony of the web page author:
The Diet Cure book author, Judith Ross, M.A., began her career treating drug addicts and alcoholics. She found great success using common amino acid supplements for the relief of their craving addictions. She then began using amino acid therapy in the treatment of people with eating disorders and weight problems. Nine of the amino acids are essential for human life and their deficiency will cause death, but meeting the minimum requirements for life can still leave one with many illnesses and unpleasant symptoms.
The book explains how amino acids are strong therapeutic nutritional supplements which are rarely considered as the cure for psychological problems. They can provide strong improvements for persons with cravings and addictions.
The author is selective in using specific amino acids for the treatment of individual symptoms. However, other sources suggest that all of the amino acids be taken. Whey protein powder is the best source for the entire list of amino acids. The full story of amino acids can be found in the book:
Missing one of the essential amino acids will result in serious health problems which are common with people on a vegetarian diet or liquid diet. The web site listed above provides very valuable information on the importance of amino acids in the diet, what they are and how they keep you alive and vibrant. The list of amino acids, their descriptions and the diseases caused by their deficiencies can be found at:
The second major thrust of the book concerns dietary fats. The book suggests that one not count fat calories but instead concentrate on getting the good fats and avoiding the bad fats. In an attempt to avoid all fats, many people are deficient in the good fats. The resulting craving causes them to eat more of the bad fats. The best example is butter with the reputation of containing the dreaded "saturated" fat. They replace the butter with margarine which contains chemically manufactured fats called trans fatty acids. The trans fats are completely foreign to the body and unusable in a beneficial way. There use is actually health threatening. Another example is the avoidance of the good visible fat seen on chicken and meats. A persons craving for fat draws them to the bad hydrogenated fats that are less visible in potato chips, French fries, low-fat dressings and spreads, cookies, crackers and pastries. These bad fats are almost always hidden in high-carbohydrate foods, the worst possible combination. See a list below of common supermarket foods which contain the bad hydrogenated vegetable oils or trans fats.
Low-Fat, Low-Protein and Low-Calorie Diets Cause Cancer
Nathan Pritikin developed a low-fat, low-protein and high-complex carbohydrate diet in the 1970s due to his obesity and clogged arteries. His program required a very low-calorie diet and was strictly against the use of any vitamin, minerals or other supplements. He reversed both of these conditions but died of suicide after battling leukemia, cancer of the bone marrow. Studies have now shown that his low-fat, low-protein diet causes cancer. He was warned by others that his diet had less vitamin E than minimum standards. It was also deficient in essential amino acids and essential fatty acids. His book was titled, Permanent Weight-Loss Manual and indeed he had a permanent weight loss, 100%. Patients at his Centre for Longevity who followed the diet and didn't cheat also suffered a multitude of other medical problems.
Low-Fat, Low-Protein and Low-Calorie Diets Cause Heart Disease
James F. Fixx wrote two books on the health benefits of exercise and running, but he died in 1984 from a heart attack at the young age of 52, in his running shoes, while on a daily run. Many try to cover the facts by blaming it on his heredity or smoking which he quit nine years earlier, but Fixx developed severe coronary artery disease during his running years. He had developed atherosclerosis. One coronary artery was almost totally restricted, and another was 80% restricted. There was also evidence of a recent heart attack. In addition, his heart was somewhat enlarged, a condition doctors call hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. This condition occurs when the heart muscle become thick, making it more difficult for the heart to work. Exercise and low-weight certainly helped him, but that could not overcome the disastrous effects of his diet. Fixx bought into the myth that fat in the diet is unhealthy when in fact it is essential to life. He also became a vegetarian and refrained from eating meat. Fixx bought into the new philosophy that runners needed high levels of carbohydrates in their diets. He ate a very low-calorie diet, to keep from gaining weight due to is excessive carbohydrates intake. He failed to take any vitamins, minerals or other supplements on the false premise that his vegetarian diet could provide them. He undoubtedly suffered from an amino acid deficiency compounded by an essential fatty acid deficiency and further compounded by a refusal to supplement with vitamins and minerals. Amino acids from protein are the building blocks of life, and it is difficult to obtain all of the amino acids required by one's diet without eating meat, fish and fowl. The effects of these deficiencies take many years to manifest themselves, and the resultant disease can be just about anything in the book. This makes it extremely difficult to pinpoint the cause and effect of a low-fat, low-protein diet on one's health. People fail to understand that the minimum requirement for carbohydrates in the diet is zero - none.
The Good, Great and Wonderful Essential Fats
The good fat that is the most difficult to assimilate into the average diet is Omega-3, sometimes referred to as fish oil. Eating fish can provide the essential fats in Omega-3 but many fish do not have these oils. Fish such as canned tuna have the oils stripped away in processing. Fresh salmon filets are the best source from natural foods. The best supplemental source is Carlson's Lemon Flavored Cod Liver Oil, taken with meals, in the adult dosage of one tablespoon twice daily. This product can be found at health food stores in the cooler section. The green bottle protects the delicate oil from becoming damaged by sunlight and it must be kept in the refrigerator before and after opening. Also take one borage oil with a high GLA fatty acid content.

Bad Hydrogenated Oils --- The Deadly Trans Fats
On the follow table is a list of common supermarket foods containing hydrogenated oils. There is universal agreement among independent nutritionists that these chemically altered vegetable oils, which are not naturally found in foods, are highly suspected to cause heart disease and cancer. Yet, the Food and Drug Administration continues to allow them to be added to natural food. There are some manufacturers that do not use the deadly hydrogenated vegetables oils in their equivalent products. Those products without the hydrogenated oils should be selected.
However, another problem still remains in the eating of most of the products listed below. That problem is the excessive use of simple carbohydrates in the form of sugar, corn syrup, fructose, lactose and honey; and starches in the form of potatoes, sweet potatoes, and beans. Some people incorrectly substitute honey in place of sugar as the healthy choice. These foods are unhealthy in all but the smallest quantity because they lead to cravings, addictions, hyperinsulinemia, body fat weight gain, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and cancer.
