Cholesterol is an amazing essential dietary nutrient that is vital to achieving optimal health in women, men, and offspring. Cholesterol is the precursor molecule for all C18, C19 and C21 steroids. Don't believe the myths, distortions, and lies that deny the awesome health benefits from eating a diet with abundant amounts of cholesterol and saturated fat.
Steroid Hormones by Dr. Michael W. King
"The steroid hormones are all derived from cholesterol. Moreover, with the exception of vitamin D, they all contain the same cyclopentanophenanthrene ring and atomic numbering system as cholesterol. The conversion of C27 cholesterol to the 18-, 19-, and 21-carbon steroid hormones (designated by the nomenclature C with a subscript number indicating the number of carbon atoms, e.g. C19 for androstanes) involves the rate-limiting, irreversible cleavage of a 6-carbon residue from cholesterol, producing pregnenolone (C21) plus isocaproaldehyde. Common names of the steroid hormones are widely recognized, but systematic nomenclature is gaining acceptance and familiarity with both nomenclatures is increasingly important. Steroids with 21 carbon atoms are known systematically as pregnanes, whereas those containing 19 and 18 carbon atoms are known as androstanes and estranes, respectively. The important mammalian steroid hormones are shown below along with the structure of the precursor, pregneolone. Retinoic acid and vitamin D are not derived from pregnenolone, but from vitamin A and cholesterol respectively."

"All the steroid hormones exert their action by passing through the plasma membrane and binding to intracellular receptors. The mechanism of action of the thyroid hormones is similar; they interact with intracellular receptors. Both the steroid and thyroid hormone-receptor complexes exert their action by binding to specific nucleotide sequences in the DNA of responsive genes. These DNA sequences are identified as hormone response elements, HREs. The interaction of steroid-receptor complexes with DNA leads to altered rates of transcription of the associated genes."
Dietary Cholesterol Produces Healthy Sex Hormones
Cholesterol is the precursor to all of the sex hormones in women and men A healthy balance of sex hormones produces fertility and libido in both women and men. A healthy diet requires a high level of fat and cholesterol in order to avoid adverse health effects. Body fat is needed to store the hormones because they are fat soluble.
The low-fat, low-cholesterol, low-calorie diet of women who are vegans, vegetarians, or anorexics severely depresses sex hormones. These women think they are healthy because they are very thin or skinny. They can become so deficient in sex hormones that menstruation is not supported, especially if they over-exercise, jog, or are involved in physical competition. They become infertile. Libido simply collapses because their testosterone level plunges to zero, and they fail to achieve an orgasm during sex. A healthy woman will have a small amount of testosterone in hormone tests. Pregnancy most likely cannot occur or results in a miscarriage in the early months. A fetus carried to term often results in a baby with birth defects or a child with autism. The low-fat, low-cholesterol diet has caused the incidence of autism to soar in all English-speaking countries. Male babies carried to term often have male birth defects or feminine personality traits as seen in the increased rise of homosexuality.

Trans Fats in the Diet "Can Increase the Risk of Infertility" - January 20 ,2007.
Women who eat the low-fat, low-cholesterol, low-calorie diet typically have a skin texture that is dry and lifeless with a dull gray color. They look like a dead person walking. The healthy rosy complexion is gone. Muscle tone in these women is non existent. Digestive problems are common and inflammatory bowel diseases are epidemic.
More deaths for caesarean babies - September 7, 2006.
"Babies born by caesarean are nearly three times more likely to die in the first month than those born naturally, US research shows."
A vegetarian diet puts a woman at higher risk of having to deliver by Caesarean section because her hormones are not normal. She is exceedingly fortunate her unbalanced hormones allowed her to get pregnant in the first place and not suffer a miscarriage thereafter. In addition, the baby is likely to be underweight and sickly. The vegetarian mother has a greater risk of being unable to breastfeed the baby because of the disruption to her hormones caused by the deficiency of fat, cholesterol, and protein in the vegetarian diet. She is also more likely to suffer from postpartum depression. The hormones in the body are made from cholesterol. Paula, a vegetarian from Australia, went ballistic at the suggestion that her diet caused all of these systems in her and her baby. She didn't realize it was not my assertion but the results of a study announced on BBC News in the United Kingdom.
"Re: Your idiotic assertion that babies born by caesarean section are 3 times more likely to die in the first month after birth."
"I am the sad statistic of a mother who was pushed into a caesarean section by my OB/GYN due to my daughter's low birth weight which caused me to be unable to breastfeed my daughter and sent me into a severe state of post natal depression. I intend to have a VBAC with my next baby."
Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, IBD, IBS, Crohn's, Ulcerative Colitis, Candida & Others.
Women who eat high calories on the low-fat, low-cholesterol diet become chubby, fat, or obese. This diet disrupts hormones as well but in a different manner. Body fat tends to increase estrogen and reduce progesterone that also reduces fertility and causes miscarriages. Many of these women have undiagnosed Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) as a result of hyper insulin resistance. One of the symptoms of PCOS in women is a higher than normal testosterone level that is revealed by facial hair, higher sex drive, and blood tests.
Women and men both fail to understand the sex/hormone connection to the high-soy vegetarian diet. Unhealthy phytoestrogen is abundant in soy flour, soy protein, soy milk, and soy tofu in the manufactured high-carbohydrate foods that vegans, vegetarians and others eat. The plant-based phytoestrogen is similar but different from natural human estrogen. The unhealthy body changes that result from eating a large amount of phytoestrogen can have disastrous results. The extra estrogen is bad for women as well as men, but the plant-based phytoestrogen is even worse. Some mothers have strong suspicions that their high-soy diet during pregnancy caused sexual birth defects in their male baby, and rightly so.
"I agree with much of your sites philosophies. Soy is awful stuff. I was a vegan for 10 years. I blame soy protein for causing a 3rd degree hypospadias in my lovely son. 10 surgeries were required to repair it. I am an advocate of a high animal protein diet now. I purchase natural meat when I can for my family. We eat pork, lard, beef suet, beef, whole milk, etc. I feel my health is better than it ever was. I eat carbohydrates in very limited quantities. Mainly in the form of vegetable and fruit. We never eat any form of flour, wheat or refined carbohydrates, sugar, etc. It's poison. Thanks for helping to get the message out to our suffering obese country. One person at a time."
Note: Hypospadias is a condition where the outlet of the penis is not at the end. It is caused by a male fetus receiving excessive amounts of phytoestrogens. Males can become sterile as a result of the mother eating soy during pregnancy. Female fetuses are damaged as well, resulting in hormone problems during puberty and later life.
"I feel 100% certain it was the phytoestrogens in the tofu I ate DAILY during pregnancy that created Gabriel's hypospadias. I've done a lot of research on estrogen since, and I've found that it's pretty toxic stuff! Being a woman, I make enough of it as it is, and I added more to my taxed system. Wish I knew then what I know now. But I cannot blame myself. I had no idea what I was doing to myself and my son. I have been reading your site for some weeks now, honestly, every free moment I get I read the articles and the links you posted. Thanks a bunch!"
Men on a low-fat, low-cholesterol diet also suffer from the depression of sex hormones. The testosterone and the sperm levels drop. The libido in these males can become depressed to the point of impotence, or they can't keep an erection to orgasm. They can become infertile from either the lack of viable sperm or the inability to deliver during sex. The following plea on a vegetarian message board is from a frustrated wife trying to deal with her impotent husband. She didn't have a clue that her cooking was ruining their sex life, and nobody could help her. A little pink sex pill at age 30 is not the correct answer.
I think my husband has erectile dysfunction (ED), Please help.
"Dear Group,
I need some serious advice. I think that my new husband of less than 2 months may have erectile dysfunction. He doesn't have a problem getting an erection. However, he does have a problem with keeping it. He rarely ejaculates...in fact he has only maintained his erection long enough to do it once. He is a young man, only 30 years old, and I don't know what to do. I tell him that it is okay that we don't ever complete intercourse, but he looks so sad when he can't keep his erection. I need to know what I can do as his wife to help him. He is a proud man and I don't want to hurt him. But I want to satisfy him and I know that I am failing to do so. Please help."A diet low in saturated fats also has a negative effect on cholesterol. The liver uses some of the products from the metabolism of saturated fats to produce cholesterol. Saturated fats in the diet increase the level of good HDL cholesterol in the blood. The HDL cholesterol removes LDL cholesterol and omega-6 fatty acid deposits from the artery walls. A blood test level of HDL below 35 is almost a death sentence. People who eat the low-fat, low-cholesterol diet typically have a low level of the good HDL and a high level of bad triglycerides.
Carbohydrates drive insulin production which results in cardiovascular heart disease (CHD). Many heart attack patients first learn they are diabetic in the hospital emergency room, but they may not be told about the close relationship between their two conditions. Blood insulin reaches high levels and remains high as one progresses from hypoglycemia to Type II diabetes in which insulin production collapses. Insulin is a very strong anabolic hormone which pushes blood glucose into cells. Insulin also pushes small, dense LDL molecules into the artery wall to start the process of atherosclerosis. The LDL molecule is pushed between the "gap junction" of the endothelial cells where it gets stuck. The LDL molecules become oxidized and attacked by free-radicals. The immune system attacks the decaying LDL molecules causing inflammation, and the body deposits cholesterol at the site in an attempt to patch up the injury. Animal research with insulin proved many years ago that the artery will plug with atherosclerosis just downstream from the point of injection. Insulin turns blood glucose into triglycerides and stores them as body fat. Insulin causes glucose to be chemically combined with cell membranes, LDL lipoprotein, blood hemoglobin, and other cells in a process called glycation. This process is similar to the caramelizing process in candy making. Insulin stimulates the growth of smooth artery muscle cells causing arteriosclerosis (hard, thick arteries) and hypertension (high blood pressure). Insulin stimulates the growth of fibrous tissue, forming plaques in the arteries. Insulin stimulates the growth of fibrinogen that thickens the blood and forms blood clots. The entire process happens rather suddenly as insulin resistance peaks and insulin levels skyrocket. This sudden appearance of heart disease has been described by the author as the "Instant Atherosclerosis Cycle" (IAC).

Cholesterol is NOT the Cause of Heart Disease - Dr. Ron Rosedale - pdf
Women and men on a high-cholesterol, high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet consisting of eggs, real butter, cheese, red meat, fowl, fish, and seafood, including generous amounts of all the fats contained therein, have a strong, natural, healthy sex drive. Couples in their mid-sixties enjoy natural sex several times a week without stimulating drugs while both achieve orgasm. A strong sex drive on the high-cholesterol, high-fat diet is natural because the diet is scientifically based. Cholesterol is the precursor for the body's manufacture of the natural sex hormones.

Diet Benefits:
Amino acids in the form of extra L-glutamine and whey protein powder are awesome immune system and body building essential nutrients. All immune system cells are made from amino acids. All ligaments, tendons, muscles, etc. are made from amino acids. The digestive tract requires a constant supply of amino acids to prevent leaky gut syndrome, inflammatory bowel diseases and autoimmune diseases.
Carlson's lemon- flavored cod liver oil supplies an abundance of essential fatty acids EPA and DHA plus vitamin A and vitamin D. This is an awesome cancer prevention combination. Take 1-2 tablespoons per day. Don't believe the vitamin overdose myths. A person would have to take 30 tablespoons per day for six months in order to approach any toxicity level.
Saturated fat is wonderfully healthy. Heart disease is caused by carbohydrates which promote insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia.
Cholesterol and saturated fats in the diet allow the body to make strong sex and adrenal hormones.
Cholesterol, saturated fats, essential fatty acids and amino acids from meat are needed to grow a healthy fetus and smart healthy baby.
Dietary Cholesterol Produces Healthy Adrenal Hormones
Cholesterol is the precursor to the adrenal hormones cortisol, corticosterone, aldosterone, and androstenedione. A low-cholesterol diet disrupts the production of these essential hormones. The result is often called "adrenal burnout," with symptoms of constant fatigue that are not relieved by rest or sleep. Other common symptoms may include a craving for sweets, low blood pressure, and low blood sugar. Psychological symptoms may include depression, irritability, negativity and an attitude of hopelessness. Adrenal burnout is also called adrenal hypo function, exhaustion, or insufficiency. The energy system of the body is seriously disrupted. People with low adrenal hormone sufficiency may suffer from impaired digestion and be prone to infections. Adrenal burnout is seen more often in women than men because women tend to conform more closely to the low-cholesterol diet, low-fat diet guidelines.
The thyroid gland can have a negative affect on the adrenal gland. Hypothyroidism (low-thyroid hormone) can result in a reduced functionality of the adrenal cortex to synthesize the steroid hormones. The combination of hypothyroidism and adrenal burnout is more frequently seen in women than in men. A thyroid hormone drug should be taken to restored to a normal level in order to restore the adrenal function. Armour thyroid (natural desiccated pork thyroid) provides both T3 and T4 thyroid hormones, but Armour is shunned by many doctors because the concentration is more variable than the synthetic thyroid (levothyroxine sodium), which contains only the T4 thyroid hormone. The body must then convert the synthetic T4 to T3, which it may not do efficiently. A doctor can give the patient a prescription for either, but you may have to insist on the Armour product, which is especially recommended if your T3 tends to be inadequate on the levothyroxine sodium.
Steroid Hormones by Dr. Michael W. King
"The adrenal cortex is responsible for production of 3 major classes of steroid hormones: glucocorticoids, which regulate carbohydrate metabolism; mineralocorticoids, which regulate the body levels of sodium and potassium; and androgens, whose actions are similar to that of steroids produced by the male gonads. Adrenal insufficiency is known as Addison disease, and in the absence of steroid hormone replacement therapy can rapidly cause death (in 1 - 2 weeks). The adrenal cortex is composed of 3 main tissue regions: zona glomerulosa, zona fasciculata, and zona reticularis. Although the pathway to pregnenolone synthesis is the same in all zones of the cortex, the zones are histologically and enzymatically distinct, with the exact steroid hormone product dependent on the enzymes present in the cells of each zone. Many of the enzymes of adrenal steroid hormone synthesis are of the class called cytochrome P450 enzymes. These enzymes all have a common nomenclature and a standardized nomenclature. The standardized nomenclature for the P450 class of enzymes is to use the abbreviation CYP. For example the P450SSC enzyme (also called 20,22 desmolase) is identified as CYP11A1."
Synthesis of the various adrenal steroid hormones from cholesterol. Only the terminal hormone structures are included. 3β-DH is 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase, P450c11 is 11β-hydroxylase (CYP11B1), P450c17 is 17α-hydroxylase (CYP17A1), P450c21 is 21β-hydroxylase (CYP21A1). Aldosterone synthase is also known as 18α-hydroxylase (CYP11B2). Place your mouse over structure names to see chemical structures. Click here for a larger format picture. |

"Conversion of prenenolone to progesterone requires two enzyme activities: 3β-DH and Δ4,5-isomerase. Zona glomerulosa cells lack the P450c17 that converts pregnenolone and progesterone to their C17 hydroxylated analogs. Thus, the pathways to the glucocorticoids (deoxycortisol and cortisol) and the androgens [dehydroepiandosterone (DHEA) and androstenedione] are blocked in these cells. Zona glomerulosa cells are unique in the adrenal cortex in containing the enzyme responsible for converting corticosterone to aldosterone, the principal and most potent mineralocorticoid. This enzyme is P450c18 (or 18α-hydroxylase, CYP11B2), also called aldosterone synthase. The result is that the zona glomerulosa is mainly responsible for the conversion of cholesterol to the weak mineralocorticoid, corticosterone and the principal mineralocorticoid, aldosterone.
Cells of the zona fasciculata and zona reticularis lack aldosterone synthase (P450c18) that converts corticosterone to aldosterone, and thus these tissues produce only the weak mineralocorticoid corticosterone. However, both these zones do contain the P450c17 missing in zona glomerulosa and thus produce the major glucocorticoid, cortisol. Zona fasciculata and zona reticularis cells also contain the C17,20 lyase, whose activity is responsible for producing the androgens, dehydroepiandosterone (DHEA) and androstenedione. Thus, fasciculata and reticularis cells can make corticosteroids and the adrenal androgens, but not aldosterone.
As noted earlier, P450ssc is a mitochondrial activity. Its product, pregnenolone, moves to the cytosol, where it is converted either to androgens or to 11-deoxycortisol and 11-deoxycorticosterone by enzymes of the endoplasmic reticulum. The latter 2 compounds then re-enter the mitochondrion, where the enzymes are located for tissue-specific conversion to glucocorticoids or mineralocorticoids, respectively."
Surprisingly, diet is seldom targeted as the cause for low adrenal hormone production even though it is common among people eating a low-cholesterol, low-fat diet. It is especially prominent among vegetarians because their diet is typically ultra low-cholesterol, low-saturated fat but high in omega-6 vegetable fatty acids. These groups try to stimulate the adrenal gland with herbal products and Chinese medicine without success. The topics in vegetarian and Chinese medicine books show the extent of their unsuccessful struggle with adrenal burnout on the low-cholesterol, low-fat and low-calorie diet.
The high-cholesterol, high-fat diet supported here creates awesome adrenal hormone production. The positive effects of optimism, energy, and enthusiasm for life are achieved in a very short time. The symptoms of adrenal burnout are reversed within a few months. This achievement is obtained simply by eating the correct foods, mainly animal products.
Adrenal burnout, insufficiency, and adrenal fatigue are often misdiagnosed as "low metabolism." We see low-cholesterol, low-fat dieters consistently misdiagnosing their low-level of adrenal hormones by thinking they have developed a "low-metabolism" problem. In actuality, their extremely high-carbohydrate diet is already pumping an outrageous amount of blood glucose and insulin into the body. This high-glucose and insulin diet should drive their metabolism through the roof, but the adrenal hormone deficiency makes it feel like they are starving to death with no energy, depression and a strong craving for more glucose in the form of sweets.
The adrenal gland and all cells of the body also require a broad list of vitamins, minerals, and essential fatty acids; therefore, the diet must include supplementation of these dietary essentials in order to optimize health. The vegetarian diet is deficient in many vitamins, minerals, protein, cholesterol, and essential fatty acids. These deficiencies combined cause adrenal burnout.

Collapse of Little Miss Vegan College Coed
Little Miss Vegan College Coed didn't eat much meat in high school. Upon entering college she was finally on her own, free to finally live the "healthy lifestyle" without condemnation from her family. At last she could become a true VEGAN - yeah! Meat, saturated fat, cholesterol, and all animal products would be barred from her life. She was exuberant, ecstatic, and bubbling over with her new religion -- the worship of animals and Mother Earth. Free at last!
Little Miss Vegan College Coed got lots of support on campus for her new lifestyle. Her biology professor (female) confirmed that humans evolved from pot-bellied vegetarian apes. She also said humans cannot digest meat, that It actually putrefies in the gut after many days, where it causes heart disease and cancer. She had more books in the campus library about her new vegan lifestyle than she could ever read, in addition to hundreds of Internet websites. Her on-campus vegan support group was a big help too.
She took up jogging like everyone else -- run, run, run. Her new diet was yummy tofu spinach and lettuce salad, rice milk, low-fat soy milk, whole grain cereals, pasta, bagels, beans, barley grass, baked rice and tempeh casserole, French lentils with onions and carrots, Basmati rice, black-eyed peas with sunflower seeds, tofu fajitas, sugar plum tofu with udon, green tea, and tamarind-marinated tofu with vegetables, 100% pure fruit juice, and more fruit, fruit, fruit. All of her new foods were organic so she wouldn't get cancer. She didn't eat any meat because it causes cancer and heart disease. She avoided fat whenever possible because it causes heart disease. Nuts were a special treat, but she severely limited them because they have fat, you know. She felt very guilty when she ate an egg at her friend's apartment, but she loved her new lifestyle. It was "Earth friendly," and her energy was awesome.
In her sophomore year she began to develop the first negative symptom on her new vegan diet. She missed a menstrual period. She knew she couldn't be pregnant because she had broken up with her boyfriend two months previously. He was a jerk anyway. They had a big fight because he had eaten a bacon cheeseburger and an apple that was not organic. Good riddance. He will be dead soon anyway from heart disease and cancer.
Out on her daily afternoon, run Little Miss Vegan College Coed felt a little tired for no reason. She'd gotten plenty of sleep the night before. A few blocks from her apartment she literally collapsed on a bus stop bench. What was wrong? She thought she must be coming down with the flu or something worse, but a few days later she knew it wasn't the flu. After several weeks she went to a special vegan doctor (female, of course). Her new doctor was highly qualified, with a medical degree and special training in naturopathic, holistic, Chinese medicine. A few tests showed she was iron, vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin K and vitamin B12 deficient. Her total cholesterol was great, but her HDL was low and her triglycerides and LDL were high. Her doctor gave her a diet and nutrition booklet and instructed her to eat tofu spinach and lettuce salad, rice milk, low-fat soy milk, whole grain cereals, pasta, bagels, beans, barley grass, baked rice and tempeh casserole, French lentils with onions and carrots, Basmati rice, black-eyed peas with sunflower seeds, tofu fajitas, sugar plum tofu with udon, green tea, and tamarind-marinated tofu with vegetables, 100% pure fruit juice, and more fruit, fruit, fruit. She was also advised to take a multiple vitamin and mineral supplement with additional vitamin B-12 and iron tablets, but the iron only made her constipation worse.
Her doctor told her all would be OK. She simply had to increase her fiber intake to combat the constipation. That was a "girl thing" anyway. "We are all that way," her doctor said. Her energy did not return, so she stopped jogging. Then the bottom fell out of her health. She had diarrhea big time. Jumping from her seat in the middle of class she ran out, barely making it to the restroom. She was afraid to leave the building, fearing she could not make it back to her apartment without messing her pants.
Little Miss Vegan College Coed didn't know that her diet was composed of 80% carbohydrates or that it was killing her. She was deficient in cholesterol, fats, proteins, vitamins, and minerals. Now she had developed an autoimmune inflammatory bowel disease. Yikes! Her 98-pound skinny frame was in severe catabolism. Every joint was sore. She was depressed and tired. Her sex drive was zero, and she didn't care about meeting any of the men on campus. "Maybe I am a lesbian," she thought. Her inflammatory bowel disease had begun to control her relationships with people and interfere with her education. She continued with her thinking, "I feel dirty inside and an intimate relationship is a big turnoff."
Feeling she was dirty inside was the first and only thought about her health and nutrition that Little Miss Vegan College Coed had gotten right. Yes, she was dirty inside. Her high-carbohydrate diet had turned her colon into a fermentation system and a smelly sewage treatment process. The explosion of pathogenic (disease causing) yeast, fungi, bacteria, and parasites had given her "leaky gut syndrome" that leads to autoimmune diseases. Her vegan diet was destroying her health and happiness. She loves lettuce and raw spinach salads, not realizing they are almost impossible to clean. Insects and birds deposit their feces on the vegetables while they are still in the field. E-coli and other bacteria become trapped within the cell structure of the vegetable as it grows. She insists on organic food, not realizing that the restriction of insecticides during the growing season makes the food more contaminated. This is the reason that salad bars are the most common cause of food poisoning.

She found this website while surfing the Internet. Amused, she continued reading the recommendations that she should deliberately eat high-cholesterol foods, saturated fat, and meat. "No way," she thought. "I am not going to eat the leg of a chicken including the greasy skin. A chicken has a face and a mother. They are also kept in little pens." "All her professors, doctors, and the nutritional authorities from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia could not be wrong," she thought. "Why am I reading this stuff?" she asked herself, knowing she should have called her poor mother who has diarrhea as well. "That's it," she said as the light in her head went off. "I have inherited my health problems from my mother. It's in my genes. I know my diet is perfect," she said to herself. She quickly clicked the little "X" in the top right corner of the web page, blurted a few insulting curse words out loud, and left for her meeting with the vegan support group. Her tummy was rumbling and gurgling as she walked to the meeting building on campus. "Oh, oh, I better locate the bathroom before going into the meeting," she reasoned.

Satan Attacks the Family Through the Woman
In the Bible Book of Genesis, Chapter 3, we read that Satan first temped the woman, Eve, to eat forbidden food from the tree in the middle of the Garden. She ate from the forbidden tree and lulled her husband, Adam, into believing Satan, disbelieving God and dragging all humanity into sin. Adam and Eve were both punished for their gullibility and disobedience. They were thrown out of the Garden of Eden. God posted a guard at the entrance to prevent their return. They were spiritually separated from God. Adam was forced to strive for a living by the sweat of his brow. Eve could not be trusted as a leader because she was easily deceived. Therefore, the man was placed as head over the woman. She was cursed with pain during childbirth.
Satan is still working through the woman to destroy the family. Satan is still deceiving women about food and diet just as he did with Eve in the Garden of Eden. The wife has a lead role in the preparation of the meals for the family and in making major decisions about diet. Satan continues to lie to the woman with false information about food, diet and health.

Dietary Cholesterol is an Essential, Healthy Nutrient
Decades ago the medical establishment in the United States observed cholesterol at the site of atherosclerotic heart artery disease. They came to the impromptu decision that cholesterol causes coronary artery disease (CAD) with the buildup of atherosclerotic plaque between the inside lining of the artery, called the endothelial lining, and the smooth muscle layer. This conclusion was absolutely wrong, but the foundation was laid that cannot be removed. The American Heart Association (AHA) and the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) simply do not have the will to admit they have been wrong for decades. They will most likely continue with the faulty dogma that "cholesterol causes heart disease" for centuries to come. Researchers who speak contrary to the dogma are simply ignored at best or punished by the withdrawal of research funding.
Cholesterol at the site of coronary atherosclerotic plaque is simply the result of a healing mechanism. Cholesterol is sent to the site to patch the damage. Cholesterol in atherosclerotic plaque is much like a scab on a cut. The scab did not cause the cut. The body produced the scab in order to protect the damaged area.
Coronary arterial atherosclerosis is caused by high blood glucose, high blood insulin, and omega-6 fatty acids from vegetable sources. All of these disease-causing elements are the result of a high-carbohydrate diet, not cholesterol, saturated fatty acids, or eating red meat.
Absolute Scientific Proof Carbohydrates Are Pathogenic.
Proof Saturated Fats Are Healthy.
A deficiency of cholesterol in the body and diet has been found to cause deformation of the eyes in babies and growing children. The low-cholesterol diet of a pregnant woman and in the diet of her children has been linked to the need for vision correcting glasses as the children age. The low-cholesterol diet damages the eyes in babies and children.
A deficiency of cholesterol in the body and diet has been found to cause malformation of the myelin sheath of the nerves, central nervous system and brain. This could be a contributing factor in multiple sclerosis, an autoimmune disease of the myelin sheath.
A deficiency of cholesterol in the body and diet can be the primary factor in the improper digestion of dietary fats. The liver utilizes cholesterol to produce bile acid which flows to the gallbladder for storage. When fat is eaten the bile acid is discharged to promote easier digestion. Much of the bile acid is recycled back to the gallbladder for reuse because the liver manufactures only a small quantity compared to the daily demand. A low-fat diet causes bile acids to stagnate in the gallbladder, resulting in the accumulation of gallstones.
Improving Good Cholesterol on the Low-Carbohydrate Diet
Many question the cancer risk from eating lots of red meat and saturated fats, and we are constantly being warned to avoid the "artery-clogging saturated fat." These scare tactics are not confirmed in the study of ancient cultures or more recent studies. It just isn't so. The body grows, heals and functions by utilizing the proteins (amino acids) and fats (fatty acids) in the diet. Both are essential for life, and deficiencies lead to a myriad of diseases which appear to have no cause. The trend away from the consumption of protein and fat is making all who listen a statistic in record-setting illnesses like cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. The current medical community has begun to blame everything on "genetics" and wring their hands because "the message just isn't getting through." Unfortunately, the low-fat, no-red meat message is getting through. People are eating the USDA Food Guide Pyramid diet, and their bodies are struggling to rid themselves of the excess glucose from carbohydrates while fighting desperately with shortages of essential amino acids and fatty acids. Vegetarians develop high cholesterol and can't correct it. They blame it on heredity because they don't understand body chemistry. Don't believe the advice given on Dr. Andrew Weil's web site above (www.drweil.com) because bad cholesterol readings are caused by high-carbohydrate diets and not by animal products. Dr. Weil's diet recommendations should never be followed because they closely parallel the unhealthy USDA Food Guide Pyramid and also discourage eating healthy meat and natural animal fats. Get the truth at the website below from ex-vegetarians who returned to eating meat and animal fat in order to recover from their health problems caused by their failed vegetarian diet.
Beyond Vegetarianism - Raw Food, Vegan, Fruitarian, and Paleo Diets.
The major responsibility for our diet recommendation rests on the shoulders of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA). The USDA has published the official diet in the form of an icon called the USDA Food Guide Pyramid. The USFDA has published the official USFDA Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) for carbohydrate, protein and fat. However, therein lies a big flaw. Neither the Food Guide Pyramid nor the RDA is based on scientific facts. If you follow the Food Guide Pyramid as your daily nutritional guide, you will encounter many related degenerative diseases like diabetes, heart disease, cancer, bowel disease, autoimmune diseases, and many more. The USDA Food Guide Pyramid and FDA Recommended Daily Allowance are solely responsible for the current high incidence of adult onset Type II diabetes which has tripled in the last 30 years. Type II diabetes is becoming common among teenagers, who were once thought to be excluded from this "age related" disease.

The bad press reports about ketones in the blood on a low-carbohydrate diet are distorted lies. According to Dr. Atkins, "Ketosis is really a shortening of the term lipolysis/ketosis. Lipolysis simply means that you're burning your fat stores and using them as the source of fuel they were meant to be. The by-products of burning fat are ketones, so ketosis is a secondary process of lipolysis. When your body releases ketones in your urine, it is chemical proof that youre consuming your own stored fat. And the more ketones you release, the more fat you have dissolved." Tests have proven that normal ketosis is healthy and is not ketoacidosis as experienced by diabetics.
Ketosis Myths and Facts on the Low-Carbohydrate Diet.
The graph below shows my reversal of high cholesterol measurements as a result of the low-carbohydrate diet described above. The total cholesterol remained steady at about 206, which is considered good in a desirable range of 180 to 200. The best result was the huge drop in the bad Triglycerides (TG) from 214 to 120 to 92 and the very good rise in the good HDL cholesterol from 35 to 51 to 55. HDL is very difficult to raise on any other diet.
The heart disease risk is measured by the ratio TG/HDL. My ratio was bad at 6.1 for ten years preceding the start of the Atkins' diet in June 1999. The ratio dropped to a respectable 2.4 during the first four months and is presently at a very good ratio of 1.7. The most desirable ratio is 1.0 or less, but are cholesterol readings really all that important? Some facts suggest otherwise.

The Cholesterol Myths by Uffe Ravnskov, MD, PhD.Cholesterol Risk Factor Information
Total Cholesterol, CT = HDL + LDL + VLDL
VLDL = Triglycerides (TG) / 5
LDL = CT - HDL - VLDL
Total cholesterol, CT, is best between 180 and 200.
Increase the 200 number limit when HDL is above 50.
Example: When HDL = 60 the best cholesterol range is 180 to 210.
CT / HDL > 3.0 and < 5.0 Above 5.0 increase coronary risk factor.
HDL > 40 for men. Less than 40 increases coronary risk and above 60 gives protection.
HDL > 50 for women. Less then 50 increases coronary risk and above 60 gives protection.
LDL < 160 Above increases risk.
TG < 150 Above increases risk.
LDL / HDL < 3.0 Above 3.0 increases coronary risk factor. Readings near 1.0 or less is best.
TG / HDL < 3.0 Above 3.0 increases coronary risk factor. Readings near 1.0 or less is best.

The Latest News About Cholesterol, Energy, Sex and Babies
Low Cholesterol link to early births - BBC News - October 1, 2007.
"Pregnant women who have very low levels of cholesterol may be at a greater risk of giving birth prematurely, US research suggests."
Low-fat dairy infertility warning - BBC News - February 28, 2007.
"A diet rich on low-fat dairy food may make it harder for some women to conceive, according to a study involving thousands of US women."
"He said that women trying to conceive should think about their diet: "They should consider changing low-fat dairy foods for high-fat dairy foods; for instance, by swapping skimmed milk for whole milk and eating ice cream, not low fat yoghurt.""
This report is a perfect example of a good study that is summarized by faulty dietary advise. It is true that the low-fat diet causes infertility. This occurs because carbohydrates are substituted for fat in the diet. The study fails to make the carbohydrate connection. The women with infertility problems were on a high-carbohydrate diet. Recommending that women drink milk with a high level of lactose (milk sugar) and eat ice cream with a high level of sucrose is wrong. Women should be advised to eat a high-fat meat diet because it does not contain any carbohydrates. The diet presented here will correct hormone disruptions that are caused by the low-fat, high-carbohydrate diet.

Hormone balance clue to bulimia - BBC News - January 8, 2007.
"The binge-eating disorder bulimia may, in some cases, be linked to a sex hormone imbalance, research suggests."
In this report the doctor incorrectly suggests that the bulimia binge-eating disorder is cause by a hormone imbalance. This mistake was made because most doctors do not understand the close connection between diet and the balance of the sex hormones. The female subjects had a higher than normal level of testosterone that revealed itself in blood tests and male-like symptoms of facial hair growth. The true cause of bulimia is a high-carbohydrate, low-cholesterol, low-fat diet that causes hyper insulin resistance and a condition called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). The women have an imbalance of sex hormones because of the low-cholesterol diet. They are bulimic because it is an easy way for them to keep from gaining weight on the high-carbohydrate diet. The purging makes the hormone imbalance worse because cholesterol is purged along with the food that was eaten. Giving the women hormone therapy will not correct any of the problems. The cure is only possible by eating the diet presented here.
Pill that tricks you into losing weight - December 26, 2006.
"An obesity pill which can help women drop two dress sizes in a year has been hailed by scientists after stunning test results."
"A course of one a day could have a dramatic effect on quality of life and cut the risk of heart disease, diabetes and cancer.
Many slimmers find that, after weeks of successfully losing weight, their metabolism slows down and they hit a plateau. With the pounds slower to come off, many lose their resolve and end up piling weight back on.""Excalia gets round this by tricking the hypothalamus - the brain's weight and appetite thermostat - into keeping the metabolism running fast."
Don't expect this new drug to perform as claimed in the news report. Oh, yes, the patient may indeed lose weight as claimed, but increasing the metabolism will increase blood glucose and blood insulin levels. These changes promote heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. The news reporters make the mistake of assuming a reduction in weight equates to a reduction in the risks for heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. The drug will most likely cause an increase in insulin resistance that is a dangerous signal of impending incidences of heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. A high metabolism is unhealthy. A low metabolism and ideal weight lead to the most healthy state, and that can only be achieved on a low-carbohydrate diet.

Low-Fat Diet Does Not Cut Health Risks, Study Finds. February 9, 2006.
The big study above costing millions of dollars was a slam against the low-fat diet, but read the report with caution. Some of the statements made about Dr. Robert C. Atkins are blatant lies. The article states, "Robert Atkins, keeled over weighing 258 lbs." These statements are lies. Dr. Robert C. Atkins was still caring for patients in his medical practice when he suffered a fatal head injury in an accidental fall on an icy sidewalk as he walked to work at age 72. He was healthy and trim at about 195 lbs. at the time of the accident. He never regained consciousness and suffered kidney failure before his death, resulting in an excessive accumulation of body fluids. These lies are typical of those propagated by supporters of the low-fat diet dogma.
